My First Motorcycle

I ride a 2010 Triumph Street Triple R. It's a 675cc, inline 3-cylinder with 106HP. My bike is categorized as a "naked" bike because it doesn't have a fairing or a lot of frills.

One of the great things about this bike for me is the weight and balance. Its dry weight is 386 pounds, 416 full of fuel. It doesn't feel top heavy--just nimble and quick. I'm 5'4" and weigh 110, so the light weight is nice. My bike doesn't feel intimidating (unless you grab a handful, and if you do, that's your own fault).

Apparently it will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.36 seconds, and has a top speed of 135. I say apparently, because I've done neither. I'd say I don't really care about all that, but I'd be lying. My bike accelerates very quickly in any gear, which means I can get out of your way, pass a truck or just generally give myself a little thrill at the quick twist of a wrist. This easy acceleration makes my bike very safe, and it's because of this safety factor that I love my bike. Really.

In 2014 I changed the stock shock and fork springs with RaceTech versions for my weight. Most bikes are sold for the average 180lb. male, which I am not. It's like I have a new motorcycle. If you're anything other than average, I highly, highly recommend getting your suspension customized for your weight and riding style.
